How Real Ed works
1. Pick a desk
Choose Civics, Science, History, Economics, or Health from the ribbon at the top. Each desk pulls today's safest, paywall-free reporting from CNN, AP, and PTI — and excludes any story we can't credit cleanly.
2. Set your reading level
Pick a grade band (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, or 9–12). Every summary, flashcard, quiz question, and tutor reply is rewritten by AI to fit how you read — never one-size-fits-all.
3. Read the summary
Each story opens with a fresh, AI-written 'In Short' — never a copy of the source. We add the missing context (who, why, what's at stake) so you understand the story, not just skim it.
4. Hover any word for a definition
Stuck on a word? Hover or tap it for an instant, plain-language definition tuned to your grade. For people and places, you get a one-line context card, not a Wikipedia dump.
5. Listen, your way
Tap ▶ Listen on any text. The voice picker lets you choose accent (American, British, Indian, Australian and more), gender, and speed. Great for early readers, multilingual learners, and anyone on the move.
6. Practice using flashcards
6–8 cards per story spanning a deliberate mix of pedagogical types (vocabulary, cause-effect, real-world application, misconception-busting, and more) so you build deep understanding, not trivia.
7. Walk an adaptive learning journey
AI plans 3–5 steps that take you from foundation to mastery on the topic behind the story. Each step is paired with a free academic video — Khan Academy first, then Crash Course, TED-Ed, MIT OCW, BBC, National Geographic.
8. Take an adaptive quiz
After the journey, a 5-question quiz tunes its difficulty to your knowledge level. Get most right? You move up. Struggle? We slow down. Sign in to make this stick across visits.
9. Ask RealEd AI
An AI tutor grounded in this exact story. Ask anything — background, vocabulary, why it matters, how it connects. It paraphrases the article and credits the source instead of copying it.
10. Sign in to personalise (optional)
You can use Real Ed without an account — but if you sign in, we remember your grade and your knowledge level for each desk and personalise everything to your learning journey. Without an account, content is still grade-adapted; it just won't follow you.
11. Safe, credited, ad-respectful
We use a strict education-safe filter: no graphic violence, crime, drugs, or adult content. Every story credits its publisher; we summarise, never republish. Any ads are clearly labeled and chosen for safety and privacy.
